Levi familyRobert and Maggie May (Irons) Skipp - pictures of their life and family together starting in 1906
Sellars and Weitz Family Photos from about 1890 to 1925.
The following group of photos relates mostly to the the family of Clyde Levi: (back to top)
Maxim (b. 1813)and Julia Levi, circa 1870-80??. This photo was contributed by Carol Porterfield who copied it from the original which is in the possession of her 91 year old aunt.
This is a picture of Frances(Frank) Rutherford and his sister Velma probably taken about 1870-80. Frank and Velma where children of Julia Levi-Rutherford the oldest daughter of Maxim and Julia Levi.
Lawrence "Clyde" Levi and his family, circa 1915. Clyde was another grandson of Maxim and Julia Levi. In this picture, the young boy at center of front row is Ervin Alvin Levi (born March 15, 1908). The woman seated to the far left is his mother, Maggie M. Levi (White) who was born Sept. 1880 in Florida. The seated man is his father Clyde Levi (his full name was Lawrence Clyde Levi) who was born November 23, 1879 in Wexford County, Michigan. The other children are probably mostly Ervin's brothers and sister(s) as I know he had at least four brothers and one sister. Their names and ages were listed in the 1920 Texas census as follows:
- George, age 18, born about 1902 in Michigan
- Lawrence, age 16, born about 1904 in Michigan
- Charlie, age 13, born about 1907 in Michigan
- Robert, age 7 1/2, born about 1912 in Michigan
- Margurite, age 8 1/2, born about 1911 in Michigan
A note written on the back of one copy of this photo says:
"The tall man with the hat at his side is Hotel Proprietor, lady and little girl are his wife and daughter. We had just arrived at this place (Williamsville, Missouri) when a picture man came up and said "Want your picture taken?" I said sure, so you see results."Ervin Alvin Levi (a.k.a. Deleve), birth certificate
Maggie M. Levi (White) and Isaac? circa early 1950's This is a latter picture of Ervin Alvin Levi's mother and a man noted as "Isaac." Isaac is a second husband who she must have married after Clyde's death. At present, I don't know anything else about Isaac.
"Charles, May and me" circa 1950's This picture shows Ervin's older brother Charles and his mother Maggie. I don't recognize the woman in the center. She is not Charles' wife Dorothy as I met Dorothy and have other pictures of her. Perhaps this mystery woman is Charles' sister Margurite.
Charles Levi, circa early 1950's This is a nice portrait of Charles. Judging by the tie, I guess it was taken some time in the early 1950's.
Charles and Ervin Levi (a.k.a. Deleve) taken sometime in the late 1960's or early 1970's in the back yard of Ervin's home in Del Rey Oaks, California.
Ervin Alvin Levi at Billings Polytechnic, Montana, circa 1926 This is a good picture of Ervin Alvin Levi taken at his college in about 1926.
Ervin Alvin Levi near San Antonio Texas, circa 1925 I believe this picture of Ervin Alvin Levi was taken near San Antonio Texas in about 1925 as there is a stamp on the back of it from a photography shop in that city.

Sellars and Weitz family photos
John David Sellars born August 20, 1846 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was married to Elmina Ralf-Sellars who was born January 7,1858 in nearby Mechanicsburg, Indiana and died April 8, 1907 in Walla Walla, Washington. I presently do not know when John died or where he is buried. I think he survived Elmina because there is an empty grave next to hers with his tomb stone. Cemetery records indicate no one is buried in the grave site and the stone only bears his birthday. It is said that he lost his leg in a train accident. I think this picture of him was taken about 1900.
William and John David Sellars (brothers) probably taken about 1900 or earlier. I don't know much about "Great Uncle William" except that he was popular with his grand niece.
Another picture with Great Uncle William and his niece Rae's husband "Archie" taken about 1920 to 1925.
August 21, 1909 postcard from Matilda Weitz to William Raymond Sellars in Walla Walla, WA.
Front of above August 21, 1909 postcard from Matilda Weitz to William Raymond Sellars in Walla Walla, WA.
Matilda Weitz and Bill Sellars in Walla Walla City Park (probably on August 22, 1909 per a note on back of one photo from this set). Accompanied by two unidentified women.
August 28, 1909 postcard from Matilda Weitz to William Raymond Sellars in Walla Walla, WA.
Matilda-Weitz Sellars -- born February 1892 in Russia, died March 30, 1916 in Walla Walla, Wa. This picture was probably taken about 1910.
This picture of Matilda Weitz was probably taken on her wedding to Bill Sellars in March 1910.
This is a much earlier picture (probably about 1900) of her husband William Raymond Sellars who was born in Richhill Missouri.
Here is a picture of Matilda and her first child Alice in front of their home in Walla Walla. This picture was probably taken in 1912. I don't know who the person on the left is. Perhaps this is her mother. This is a close-up version of the same picture.
This is a picture of two unknown women. I think the woman on the right is the same woman standing with Matilda and her child Alice in the previous picture. A note on the back of this picture indicates it was taken 1904 in Tacoma WA. If the older woman is in fact Matilda's mother as I surmised above, then the tall woman on the left is most likely Matilda's older sister Mary or Marie. Here is a close-up version of the same picture.
These are the three children of Matilda and Bill Sellars. From left to right - Rose, Richard, and Alice. The goat is not a family member. Rose was born in March 1916, so this picture was probably taken in 1918 or 1919.
These are three sisters of William Raymond Sellars -- May, Ray, and June. Or more formally: Mabelle Sellars King??(b. 5-23-1889 d. about 1952); Rachel "Rae" Vida (b. 4-27-1892 d. 12-20-1949); Elmina June (b. 6-9-1894 d. about 1951). I think this picture was taken in about 1920.
This is a picture of Frank, Dave, and Bill Sellars -- the Sellars Brothers as young men -- taken most likely sometime around 1910 to 1920. Note that it appears Frank was wearing a uniform of some kind. I do know that he was a veteran of the Spanish American War.
Here are some of the Sellars at "a little party on the beach at Balboa" sometime around 1920.
This is "The Sellars Mafia" during a family reunion in about 1925. This picture was taken in Ritzville area where Frank and Dave Sellars lived. Starting with the back row from left to right they are: Dave, Maude (Dave's wife), Lena*, Bill, Marie (Bill's 2nd wife), Esther, Alice, Rachel, Uncle Will, Dick, and Frank. In the front row, from left to right we have Billy, unknown*, Rose, unknown*, Louise.
* = might not be related according to Rose.
This is another picture of just the men -- taken at the same 1925 family reunion. From left to right, we have Dave, Great Uncle William, Dick, Bill, Frank, and little cousin Billy. Dave, Bill, and Frank are all brothers and Dick is Bill's son; little Billy was Frank's son. These characters would correspond to:
John "David" Sellars born Sept. 5, 1876 in Crawfordsville, Indiana and died on April 24, 1945 in Ritzville, WA. Dave was married to Maude Johnson who I suspect might have been a sister of Bill's second wife whose maiden name I think was also Johnson.
Great Uncle William was uncle to Dave, Bill, and Frank. I don't know much about him but I think he was born in about 1848 in Indiana and would have been the younger brother of Dave, Bill, and Frank's father John David Sellars.
Richard William Sellars ("Dick") was born in 1913 in Walla Walla and was the son of Bill.
William Raymond Sellars ("Bill") was born 1886 in Richhill Missouri.
Franklin Corwin Sellars ("Frank") was born August 14, 1878 in Terre Haute, Indiana, and died in Ritzville, WA on December 7, 1940. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
Little Billy I know nothing about.
